10-year-old Molly believes that, if she can learn to play the fiddle like her father once did, she will be able to wake him from a coma. Whilst in the coma, her dad is moved to a rehab center where Molly, her mother and her brother Jack visit him daily. After the doctor tells her mother that it would probably take a miracle to wake him, Molly becomes curious and inquires about miracles. Her mother tells her that miracles are a kind of magic, and Molly’s imagination goes into overdrive.
Molly meets Malachy, a grumpy yet intriguing elderly man with a mysterious past. Drawn to the beautiful fiddle music she hears him play, Molly learns that Malachy was once a champion fiddler known for having magic in his hands. Their unlikely friendship blossoms as she persuades him to teach her the instrument.
